Tuesday 4/17 Minor League Roundup



AAA Indianapolis | Columbus 5 Indianapolis 1
The Indians were only able to plate one run on Tuesday despite seven hits. Brandon Boggs and Kris Watts both went two for four. The only RBI of the night came from outfielder Gorkys Hernandez and Starling Marte didn't get any hits while striking out three times. Justin Wilson took the mound for the team and worked through six innings while giving up four runs, three earned. He also walked three and struck out four. Daniel McCutchen pitched two scoreless innings only allowing one hit.

AA Altoona | Harrisburg 4 Altoona 0
Mike Colla took the mound for the Curve today as they dropped below .500 with a loss to Harrisburg. He pitched five innings only giving up one run on two hits and struck out seven. Matt McSwain followed up allowing two runs in two innings of relief, and Kris Johnson also gave up a run. Altoona was unable to score any runs despite six hits, three of them for extra bases. Jaremy Farrell went two for four with a double and Adalberto Santos also collected two hits. Robbie Grossman also hit a double, going one for three. Grossman is batting .250 so far this season in Altoona.

A West Virginia | Asheville 12 West Virginia 7
The Power had another pretty bad night from their pitchers, this time the bullpen. Matt Benedict got the start and only gave up two runs on five hits. The real culprits here though are Porifio Lopez and Vince Payne. Lopez, in 0.2 innings, allowed six earned runs on one hit, three walks, and two HBP. His season ERA sits 81.00. Payne allowed quite a few more hits, six, but not as many runs, four. He also struck out four batters through 2.1 innings. On the offensive side, the Power had a pretty good day despite the loss. Junior Sosa collected three hits. Alen Hanson continues to swing the bat well with two hits, including a triple. Jose Osuna also had two hits, both doubles.

A Bradenton | Palm Beach 9 Bradenton 6
Colton Cain got the start for the Marauders on Tuesday, getting pretty banged up. He got through four ininngs, allowing six runs, four earned, on six hits. Jhonathan Ramos followed Cain with three scoreless innings, then Quinton Miller allowed  three runs in only 0.2 innings. At the pate, Alex Dickerson had a huge night, going four for five, with all singles. Mel Rojas and Stefan Welch both collected two hits. The Marauders struck out ten times at the plate.
