Recap 4/13 | Giants 5 Pirates 0

The Pirates lost their fourth straight game this afternoon to the San Fransisco Giants, 5-0 and fall to a 2-5 record. The story and player of the game was Matt Cain. The 127 million dollar man threw a complete game shutout against the Bucs, striking out eleven batters.

James McDonald started for the Pirates and threw 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits, walking three while striking out only one. The Pirates opponent has scored in the first inning five of the first seven games of the season, and the Giants scored two today on RBI hits by Buster Posey and Aubrey Huff. Tony Watson retired one batter and Evan Meek threw a one-two-three seventh inning. Joel Hanrahan came in for the eighth inning and let a two-run homerun up to Aubrey Huff. Hanrahan only allowed one homerun all of last season.

The Pirates offense was absolutely non existent collecting only one hit through nine innings of play. The only hit belonged to James McDonald who got it in the sixth inning after Cain threw 5.2 innings of perfect baseball. Garrett Jones and Pedro Alvarez both had three strikeouts a piece.

The Pirates looked 100% lost at the plate today and play tomorrow at 9:05 PM.
