  • The Pirates offense was inexistent last night as they dropped their second straight game to the Dodgers by the score of 4-1. [Recap]
  • A.J. Burnett couldn't get out of the 2nd inning yesterday in his rehab start with Bradenton. He gave up five hits and allowed eight runs (just five earned) before being yanked after reaching his pitch count. The rest of the Minor League Roundup is here.
  • We made another move yesterday by signing Rick VandenHurk. He'll pitch in AAA for awhile and we'll see if he can do anything. Here's his career numbers, don't get too excited.
  • Despite last night's loss, Erik Bedard and company kept the Pirates atop the league's ERA leader board. It's too bad the offense can't capitalize and get their team some early wins, the Pirates are 3rd to last in batting average with a team .189 mark.
  • Jeff Karstens will try to get the Pirates back to .500 at 10:10 tonight as he takes on Chris Capuano in the series finale.
