4/20 Recap | Cardinals 4 Pirates 1

The Pirates lost the first game of this homestand by a score of 4-1.

Charlie Morton got the start for the Pirates and pitched five innings, gave up two runs, struck out three and walked six. Morton didn't look all that bad, but was credited with the loss due to a poor day at the plate by the Pirates. Evan Meek pitched a scoreless inning and Jared Hughes gave up two runs in three innings of work.

The game started off with a bang as Alex Presley led the game off with an inside the park homerun to centerfield, on a misplayed ball by Skip Schumaker. It was the first inside the parker since Freddy Sanchez did it in 2008 and the first leadoff inside the parker since Omar Moreno did it in 1980. Other than that, Jose Tabata had two hits, which was a good sign and Garrett Jones picked up the other lone hit for the Pirates.

The defense looked pretty poor today as the Pirates had four team errors. Charlie Morton and Neil Walker each had an error a piece and Clint Barmes picked up two at the shortstop position.

Kevin Correia is set to pitch tomorrow against the Cardinals with a first pitch around 7:05 PM.
