4/25 Recap | Rockies 2 Pirates 1

Game one of the double header between the Rockies and Pirates finished with Colorado picking up a 2-1 victory. The story of this game was James McDonald's ability to take a no hitter into the seventh inning. Due to the Pirates being able to push only one run across, JMac picked up a no decision while only allowing one hit over seven innings. He allowed one run and struck out eight to go along with that. Chris Resop suffered a loss as he let up the leading run in the eighth inning. The run came in while Tony Watson was pitching on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Colvin. Jared Hughes, who was called up to be the 26th man today, pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

The Rockies only had three hits the whole game and managed to beat the Pirates, who had nine hits. Pedro Alvarez hit a solo homerun (third) in the seventh inning to tie it up, but the lead was later given back to the Rockies. Every player in the starting lineup (including James McDonald) picked up a hit which is the first time the Pirates lineup has done so this season. Rafael Betancourt set down the Pirates in order in the ninth to pick up his sixth save of the season and it was tough to see the Bucs triple their opponent in hits but still lose the game.
