  • The Pirates put an end to their five game losing streak yesterday by defeating the Giants 4-1. Kevin Correia was phenomenal and Garrett Jones homered. [Recap]
  • I wrapped up (an extended) week one in the Pirates Daily Notebook. If you haven't been checking that out I'd suggest you start now. Click here to check it out, and click here to download it.
  • There was a lot of talk this weekend about the Pirates possibly shopping Joel Hanrahan. The talk was originated when we learned that Giants closer Brian Wilson will most likely miss the rest of the season. There aren't any real trade rumors, but it's certainly interesting to consider the possibilities of trading Hanrahan. Tim Williams at Pirates prospects wrote this excellent blog post giving three reason why the Pirates should do it. I completely agree.
  • We still have three days to go on this road trip. The series with the Arizona Diamondbacks starts tonight at 9:40 ET. Probable starters for the series are Erik Bedard vs. Joe Saunders, Jeff Karstens vs. Ian Kennedy, and James McDonald vs. Daniel Hudson - three tough games for the Pirates. It would be really, really nice to win two of the three and make this a 3-6 road trip, which would be bearable after losing the first five.
