Jeff Locke went six innings and allowed just two runs on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts, but Jo-Jo Reyes blew the lead by giving up three runs in two-thirds of an inning for the loss. New McEffect favorite Dallas McPherson went 2-for-4 with his first home run in the Pirates organization and 13th on the year. Brock Holt stayed hot and went 2-for-4. Alex Presley and Brandon Boggs each had two hits also, with Boggs adding a double.

Mike Colla started his first game since May and allowed three runs in four innings for the loss. He gave up five hits, walked one and struck out one. Nathan Baker finished the game with four innings of his own and only allowed one run, three hits and one walk while striking out four. Charles Cutler had two hits, Ramon Cabrera doubled and Andrew Lambo went 1-for-4 one day after hitting two home runs in his first game back for the Curve.

Nick Kingham's resurgence continued with a strong outing for his sixth win of 2012. Kingham lasted six innings and gave up just two hits without walking a batter. He allowed one run and fanned three hitters. Joan Montero recorded a three-inning save without allowing a run. The bludgeoning Power offense smacked 12 hits, led by Eric Avila's eighth home run of the season. Avila has hit a home run in each of his last four contests. Jose Osuna also connected for his 16th homer of the season on a 2-for-4 day which included his 34th double. Alen Hanson, Francisco Aponte and all added two hits apiece as well.

The Marauders had six runs on nine hits, led by Andy Vasquez's second home run in three games, but the pitching was blown up in a defeat to Jupiter. Vasquez's homer was his fifth, and went 2-for-5 for the game. Kirk Singer had two hits and a double while Justin Howard went 2-for-4. Kenn Kasparek gave up six runs and nine hits in 3.2 innings. Jhonathan Ramos' season continues to go down the tubes after allowing four runs in just one inning. Jason Townsend struck out three in two scoreless, hitless innings.

Clay Holmes struggled for the second straight game, allowing five runs in 4.2 innings to take the loss. Holmes gave up six hits, walked three and struck out just one. Thomas Harlan followed Holmes with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, adding in three strikeouts. Alex Fuselier got a rare start and contributed with three hits, while Yhonathan Barrios and Jodaneli Carvajal each singled twice. The Spikes had no extra-base hits.
