8/4 Recap | Reds 5 Pirates 4

The Pirates lost a big game to the Cincinnati Reds tonight 5 to 4. James McDonald did not have to great of an outing. He pitched six innings, but allowed four runs. He struck out seven, but he clearly does not look as dominant as he did in the first half of the season. Jared Hughes pitched the seventh and eighth and was credited with a loss, allowing the lead run to come in the bottom of the eighth.

Josh Harrison was hit by a pitch in the second inning which escalated into an unfair turn of events. Both benches were warned, and Clint Hurdle argued, which was completely necessary, which led to Clint Hurdle being ejected. Josh Harrison did retaliate the right way in the fourth inning hitting a solo home run off of Mike Leake. Michael McKenry hit a solo home run in the second inning and Travis Snider picked up his first RBI as a Pirate. Alex Presley hit a triple off the right field wall and later scored on a Neil Walker sacrifice fly as well.

The Pirates will try to not get swept with a victory tomorrow afternoon and they currently sit 5.5 back in the NL Central.
