Garrett Jones was the man of the hour, hitting two three-run homers, for a total of six RBI. Clint Barmes chipped in with two hits and three RBI, including an RBI triple that scored none other than Rod Barajas.
A.J. Burnett didn’t do a great job, going 6.2 innings and giving up seven hits and six runs. He got a nice hold from Tony Watson to strand the tying run. Burnett struck out seven and gave up two home runs. Jason Grilli and Joel Hanrahan pitched a clean final two innings and the Pirates were on the winning side of things once again.
The Bucs head to St. Louis for a massive weekend series with the Cardinals tomorrow.
