Jose Tabata On Verge of Demotion (Hurdle Audio)

Clint Hurdle made it clear in his pre-game press conference on Thursday that Jose Tabata no longer has a guaranteed job at the major league level. He is frustrated with his performance and realizes that the team can not go much longer without getting anything out of him. Here's the audio:
I would go as far as to say that this move could come as soon as Monday before the team opens up their seven game home stand with Houston and San Francisco. Of course, there is the chance that they'll just wait it out until the all-star break and give him the full ten games to prove that he belongs here. Honestly I think that would be waiting too long, the sooner they send Tabata down, the better.

As for what they will do when he's no longer around, it will just have to be a mix and match. Starling Marte has been crushing the ball lately but I still don't think management is ready to bring him up. It's possible, but not likely. Assuming it's not Marte, you're going to see a lot of Alex Presley and Garrett Jones at the corners against righties, and then probably Josh Harrison and Drew Sutton filling in against lefties. Casey McGehee has shown that he deserves to be the everyday first baseman and that's going to help a lot. They will also probably call up Gorkys Hernandez to take Tabata's spot, so he can fill in there as well. Also, Jeff Clement becomes a possibility, which would overload first base and make Jones strictly an outfielder. No reason to put too much thought into it until it happens.
