6/25 Recap | Phillies 8 Pirates 3

Jeff Karstens made his return to the Pirates tonight and was smacked around the ball park, resulting in the Pirates losing 8-3. The first inning consisted of three errors by the Pirates, all on throws. Two were made by Jose Tabata and one was made by Pedro Alvarez which resulted in the Phillies putting up four runs in the first. Doug Slaten allowed a run after walking three men and Jared Hughes threw a scoreless inning.

Jose Tabata made up for his errors by hitting his third home run of the season, and Andrew McCutchen and Clint Barmes contributed the other RBIs. Rod Barajas was injured in the first inning and pulled from the game, which is never a good sign seeing your starting catcher haved to be pulled. Pedro Alvarez and Michael McKenry each had two hits.

The Pirates dropped the first game of the four game series to the Phillies, and look to win tomorrow with Erik Bedard on the hill.
