6/10 Recap | Pirates 3 Royals 2

The Pirates won their fourth straight game riding the pitching once again. A.J. Burnett pitched 7.1 innings and gave up two late runs. He pitched 5 hitless innings before giving up a single in the sixth. Tony Watson and Juan Cruz both got outs to end the 8th, and Jason Grilli got the save with Joel Hanrahan unavailable.

The offense came from Andrew McCutchen, who doubled in a run in the first and hit a two run home run in the third. There wasn’t much else going offensively for the Pirates, as they collected just three hits other than the ones off McCutchen’s bat. Alex Presley, Neil Walker, and Garrett Jones all had singles.

The team now sits five games above .500 and will travel to Baltimore for a three game set before going to Cleveland next weekend.
