7/16 Recap | Rockies 5 Pirates 4

Pirates fell on a walk off sacrifice fly by Dexter Fowler after an extremely exciting top of the ninth inning, which we will get to later. Jeff Karstens started for the Bucs and allowed four runs over seven innings. Tony Watson had a scoreless outing and Jason Grilli suffered a loss for the Pirates allowing the walk off.

Jeff Karstens managed the only run for the Pirates from the first to eighth inning, which he had a RBI single. The Pirates wouldn't get much going until the ninth inning though when Andrew McCutchen and Neil Walker singled. Pedro Alvarez stepped to the plate and the Rockies grounds crew decided to send the game into a delay, which lasted about 45 minutes. When the game resumed Pedro Alvarez wasted no time at all tying the game up, hitting a three-run home run on the first pitch of his at bat. It was a great moment for El Toro and the Bucs but it was unfortunate that the bullpen couldn't help the team out.

The Pirates play tomorrow night at 8:40.
