7/15 Recap | Brewers 4 Pirates 1

The strikeout barrage continued on Sunday as Brewer starter Yovani Gallardo struck out 14 Pirates on his way to a win.

Andrew McCutchen homered for the third time in the series and for the fourth straight game, but that’s all the offense the Pirates could muster. Cutch had three hits, Neil Walker had a single, and Jordy Mercer doubled but that’s all the Pirates would get.

A.J. Burnett started and pitched seven innings and was having one of his best outings of the year until the sixth inning. He gave up four runs and wasn’t helped by his defense or lady luck in the inning. It had been awhile since the Pirates lost a divisional series, but they still have a nice 10 game pad over the .500 mark as they travel to Colorado for a three game set with the Rockies starting tomorrow.
