7/13 Recap | Brewers 10 Pirates 7

The second half didn’t start how the Pirates would have liked it too, as the Pirates lost a slugfest to the Brewers. James McDonald had possibly his first bad start of the year, going just 4.2 innings and giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits. He struck out just two. He gave up three runs in the first after retiring the first two batters and just didn’t have the location.

Drew Sutton led the comeback with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI. Neil Walker hit a three run homer to put the Bucs on top, and Pedro Alvarez would add a solo shot of his own to put the Pirates up two in the fifth. The bullpen couldn’t hold the lead however, Brad Lincoln gave up a run in two innings and Tony Watson got the loss by loading the bases and giving up a two out grand slam to Cody Ransom, of all people.

Andrew McCutchen would hit home run number 19 in the 9th for his third hit of the game to raise his batting average to .367, but it was too little too late and the Pirates fell to 48-38.
