7/22 Recap | Pirates 3 Marlins 0

The Pirates completed their fourth sweep of the season thanks to the great pitching from Jeff Karstens. Karstens did not allow a run through seven innings and Jared Hughes and Joel Hanrahan both had perfect innings to close the game out.

Andrew McCutchen had a RBI single in the bottom of the first and the only other runs of the day came on a two-run home run from Pedro Alvarez, his 22nd of the year. It wasn't a great day at the plate as you can see the Pirates only managed to get three runs, but it was enough thanks to the great pitching.

The Pirates next ten games are against the Cubs, Astros, and then the Cubs again. The Pirates stand only a half game back in the National League Central.
