5/11 Recap | Astros 1 Pirates 0

Pittsburgh failed to score any runs tonight and were shutout by Bud Norris and the Houston Astros on a final score of 1-0. Norris only allowed three hits through six innings and the Pirates would go on to get only four all together.

James McDonald started for the Pirates and looked outstanding. He pitched eight strong innings allowing only one run on four hits and struck out eight. JMac continues to look very solid on the mound but was given the loss due to the Pirates putting together no offense. Jared Hughes pitched the ninth and threw a one-two-three.

The four hits belonged to Clint Barmes, Jose Tabata and Rod Barajas. Barajas got two hits and the Pirates struck out eleven times at the plate tonight, including three from Pedro Alvarez.

Game two of this three game set is tomorrow at 7:05 PM.
