James McDonald's Home Run Problem

Don't have a lot of time here, laptop is dying quickly. Just wanted to get on here and tell you all that James McDonald, whom I boldly predicted to be the Pirates best player in the 2nd half, has allowed 7 home runs in his last 3 starts. In those starts he has given up 12 earned runs in 18 innings. However, his stuff has looked better than it has all year and he has been very good when not surrendering home runs. Here's the pitch locations of the at-bats in which McDonald served up 4-baggers (click on the images to enlarge them):

Obviously, McDonald has been leaving a lot of pitches up in the zone. He throws a lot of breaking balls and has trouble locating them at times, which lends itself to giving up lots of fly balls and home runs. Like I said, he has really been pitching well lately despite giving up a good amount of runs, he is just making mistake pitches far too often and opposing hitters aren't letting him get away with it. McDonald needs to keep the ball down and stop hanging so many breaking balls, or he's going to make me look like an idiot for picking him as my 2nd half MVP.
