3/20 Recap | Yankees 10 Pirates 3

The Pirates got thumped by the Yankees on Tuesday night by the score of 10-3. The Buccos collected ten hits but could only scrape out three runs. Two of the runs came on an Andrew McCutchen first inning bomb. Neil Walker brought another run home in the sixth, and that was the end of the offense for the night.

Erik Bedard’s outing didn’t look good on paper, but it wasn’t all that bad. He was the victim of some poor defense and some bad luck to give up his first two runs, and Jo-Jo Reyes got shelled in relief of Bedard and allowed two of his inherited runners to score. The curveball that Erik was throwing was getting a lot of ugly swings and looked like it was ready for the season.

The rest of the major league pitchers in the game did a nice job. Daniel McCutchen and Daniel Moskos threw scoreless innings. Ryota Igarashi, Reyes, and Jared Hughes all got hit around a bit and gave up six runs combined. Shairon Martis pitched a solid one and a third of scoreless ball.

Not a great day on the scoreboard for the Bucs, but there were some positives. McCutchen, Walker, and Jose Tabata all collected multiple hits, and Bedard looked sharp.
