Pirates 9 Cubs 1

I'm really short on time right now so this will be quick.

The Pirates bats came up big today and finished the "first half" of the season on a big positive note, with an 8-run victory over the Chicago Cubs, clinching yet another winning series for the Pirates. The Buccos haven't had a losing home stand or losing road trip since May 20th through the 25th. That's nuts.

The big win also means they finish the first 90 games with a runner differential of +8. They were almost -200 at this time last year.

Kevin Correia was named to the all-star team officially during the game, and the Pirates have 3 representatives for the first time since 1990 (that's the year I was born).

I will have a ton of posts reflecting on the "first half" (which is actually longer than the second half, so it's not really a 'half'), and looking forward to the rest of the season. Also, I'm sure I'll have some home run derby and all-star game commentary. Be on the look-out for that, lots of good stuff coming from The "Mc" Effect that you won't get anywhere else.
