- The Pirates saw their four game winning stream come to an end after dropping a tough game to the Cardinals by the score of 5-4. Here's the recap.
- Luis Heredia and Starling Marte highlighted the day in the farm system. Heredia threw five scoreless innings to get his ERA down to 0.64 and Marte went 2/4 with his ninth homer. The minor league roundup is right here.
- The Pirates were 17-10 in June. That's their highest winning percentage in a single month since September of 1992, when the club went 21-8. They had identical 17-10 months in July of 2004, September of 1996, and June of 1994
- The Pirates have a great chance to best that record in July, despite starting 0-1 after yesterday's lost. 22 of the Pirates remaining 25 games are against team with losing records. They also have seven games with the Astros and six games with the Cubs this month. 13 of the games are at home.
- Edwin Encarnacion and Vernon Wells are recent names that have come up as possible trade targets recently. I've been keeping up to date with all the rumors in my Trade Deadline Target Tracker.
- James McDonald takes on Jordan Lyles and the Astros at 7:05 tonight in PNC Park. You can listen to my pre-game show on TribLIVE Radio from 4:30 to 6:00.
