James McDonald pitched seven strong innings allowing just one run, striking out 10, and not walking a single hitter. He finished up his first half with one of his best outings and stays poised for a near Cy Young calibur season.
The offense came from Michael McKenry, who hit a solo homer, Pedro Alvarez, who had an RBI double that came inches away from being a home run, and Neil Walker, who had two doubles and an RBI.
Jason Grilli struck out the side in the 8th and Joel Hanrahan got his 23rd save of the year with a one hit ninth inning.
Great win for the Bucs who look to close their incredible first half on Sunday with a series win over the Giants.
