Wednesday 5/2 Minor League Roundup


AAA Indianapolis | Indianapolis 3 Norfolk 1
Jo-Jo Reyes took the hill for the indians today and had a strong start. Reyes allowed nine hits across five innings, but came out with only one run to his name. He struck out five. Bryan Morris and Doug Slaten both threw scoreless outings. On the offensive side of the ball, Jake Fox had a two hit night. RBIs came off the bats of Matt Hague, Jeff Clement, and Gorkys Hernandez. Starling Marte had a one for four night.

AA Altoona | Altoona 11 Erie 8
The Curve erupted for 11 runs today, as Robbie Grossman finally had the big night he needed. Grossman had three hits in five ABs, and collected two RBIs. Two of his hits were for extra bases, a double and a triple. Brock Holt and Matt Curry both had two RBI nights with home runs. On the mound, Matt McSwain had a nice five inning start, allowing two runs on six hits. The real damage came when Kris Harvey went out for 1.1 innings. He gave up six runs, five earned, on six hits. Duke Welker followed up with 2.2 shutout innings.

A West Virginia | Game 1 -  Asheville 6 West Virginia 3
Alen Hanson had a quieter than normal performance in game one with only one hit and a walk. Willy Garcia had a two run homer. Zack Dodson had a rough start on the mound, allowing six runs on ten hits in 3.1 innings. Juan Montero and Justin Ennis followed up with scoreless relief appearances.

A West Virginia | Game 2 -  West Virginia 5 Ashville 3
The starting pitching was better in game two as Mike Jefferson allowed three runs, two earned, in five innings of work. He struck out five and walked one. Alen Hanson had a better game, going two for four with a double. Kirk Singer also had a two hit night with a double and an RBI.

A Bradenton | Bradenton 4 Charlotte 3
The Marauders improved to 12-14 today after their defeat of the Stone Crabs. Aside from Gift Ngoepe with a hitless night, everyone else in the lineup had exactly one hit. Stefan Welch had the biggest of the hits with a three run homer in the seventh inning. Tyler Waldron got the start for Bradenton, pitching six innings in which he allowed only one run on four hits and four strikeouts. Quinten Miller had the roughest outing, giving up two runs across two innings.
