Thursday 5/10 Minor League Roundup


AAA Indianapolis | Lehigh Valley 5 Indianapolis 1
The Indians took on Lehigh Valley on national television yesterday. Chase d'Arnaud had another nice night collecting two hits. Gorkys Hernandez also had a two hit night for the tribe. Jeff Locke had a rough start on the mound, working through 5.2 innings and allowing  five runs on nine hits. Locke only struck out two batters while walking one. Jose Diaz, Evan Meek, and Doug Slaten closed out the game with scoreless relief.

AA Altoona | Erie 8 Altoona 4
Ramon Cabrera had a solid night for the Curve, going three for five with a two run homer. Robbie Grossman also had a nice night going two for four with a double as his average starts to rise back up. Tony Sanchez also had a two hit night. On the mound, Natahn baker threw five innings for Altoona, allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits. Matt McSwain came in and allowed three more runs, one earned, in two innings. The Curve committed four errors during the game.

A West Virginia |  Charleston 15 West Virginia 3
The Power got clobbered on Thursday as none of the pitching looked good. Matt Benedict started the game, throwing 5.1 innings and allowed seven runs, five of which were earned. The other culprit of the night was Joan Montero, who gave up an unbelievable seven runs in just one innings of relief. His ERA sits at 23.40. At the plate the Power couldn't really do much as the pitching was a lost cause. Gregory Polanco hit a home run and Kirk Singer had a two for four night. Alen Hanson went hitless.

A Bradenton | Bradenton 16 Clearwater 3
The Marauders really broke out the bats in Thursday's win over Clearwater. Stefan Welch, as a part of his three for four night, hit a home run and had three RBIs. Dan Grovatt and Wes Freeman also had homers. Mel Rojas and Alex Dickerson had two RBI nights. On the mound, Jameson Taillon made another brilliant start throwing six shutout innings on six hits and struck out three. Taillon's ERA now sits at 1.47.
