The Pittsburgh Pirates haven't exactly been an offensive juggernaut the last few years. Things are getting better, but their volume of work is unimpressive to say the least. Tonight we face Stephen Strasburg, which got me wondering how the Pirates have faired against big name pitchers in the last season. Let's check it out.
4/10/12 vs. Clayton Kershaw - Lose 2-1 - Kershaw: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K
4/7/12 vs. Cliff Lee - Win 2-1 - Lee: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
4/5/12 vs. Roy Halladsay - Lose 1-0 - Halladay: 8 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 5 K
9/28/11 vs. Zack Greinke - Lose 7-3 - Greinke: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
8/22/11 vs. Zack Greinke - Win 9-2 - Greinke: 6.1 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
8/12/11 vs. Zack Greinke - Lose 7-2 - Greinke: 7.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 R, 1 BB, 9 K
5/15/11 vs. Zack Greinke - Lose 9-6 - Greinke: 5 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 5 R, 1 BB, 5 K
7/29/11 vs. Roy Halladay - Lose 10-3 - Halladay: 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 K
6/5/11 vs. Roy Halladay - Lose 7-3 - Halladay: 7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K
7/30/11 vs. Cliff Lee - Lose 7-4 - Lee: 7.2 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 11 K
5/13/11 vs. Yovani Gallardo - Lose 5-3 - Gallardo: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
4/19/11 vs. Josh Johnson - Lose 6-0 - Johnson: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K
6/24/11 vs. John Lester - Win 3-1 - Lester: 6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
6/3/11 vs. Cole Hamels - Win 2-1 - Hamels: 8 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
Pirates are 4-10 in those games. Doesn't bode well for tonight's game against Strasburg.
