Friday 5/4 Minor League Roundup

AAA Indianapolis | Norfolk 10  Indianapolis 5
The Indians came were able to plate five runs off of just five hits tonight, but that wasn't enough to get past Norfolk as they fell to the Tides for the second day in a row. Anderson Hernandez had himself a fantastic night at the bottom of the lineup, going two for four and knocking in four of Indy's five runs on the day. Starling Marte had a hitless night in five ABs, dropping his average to .262 so far this year. On the mound, Justin Wilson had a rough night, only getting through four innings and allowing five runs to score before his pitch count broke the 100 mark. He struck out three and walked three. Jose Diaz also had a pretty rough relief appearance, surrendering four runs in only one inning.

AA Altoona | Altoona 8 Richmond 7
The Curve sneaked past Richmond today in a pretty offensive game for both teams. Robbie Grossman had a better night, going two for five, and Brock Holt, Matt Curry, Charles Cutler, and Kelson Brown all had two hit nights of their own. Curry and Brown both had two RBIs. Mike Colla got the start for the Curve, throwing six innings and allowing six runs across off of nine hits. Tim Alderson had a nice night, pitching two shutout innings of relief.

A West Virginia | West Virginia 8 Asheville 5
Alen Hanson was unable to get a hit tonight, despite a pretty good offensive performance by the Power. Willy Garcia was the star of the night, collecting three hits, including a two run homer. It was Garcia's third HR in four games. Carlos Mesa also hit a three run homer. On the mound, Matt Benedict pitched through five innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits.

A Bradenton | Tampa 2 Bradenton 0
Jameson Taillon made the start for the Marauders today, getting himself through six innings and only allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out five and his ERA now sits at an impressive 1.76 on the season. Unfortunately though, Bradenton's offense wasn't able to come up with anything, only getting three hits in the game. Those hits came off of the bats of Benji Gonzalez, Andy Vasquez, and Stefan Welch. The Marauders struck out 13 times.
