5/5 Recap | Pirates 3 Reds 2

The Pirates won a low scoring ballgame on Saturday night by the score of 3-2. Neil Walker hit a two run homer in the third inning and the Pirates never gave up that lead. Alex Presley added the eventual winning run in the 7th with a two out solo home run. The Pirates would get just six hits and Pedro Alvarez would see his hitting streak come to an end, although he did draw two walks.

On the mound, James McDonald was fantastic once again. J-Mac pitched into the seventh and was pulled after allowing a run and getting one out in the inning. Juan Cruz got a double play on a flyout as Scott Rolen tried to tag from first and the inning ended with only one run scoring. Jason Grilli gave up a run in the eighth but struck two out and left a couple on base to get it to Joel Hanrahan who closed the game out with three straight outs.

The Pirates moved to 12-15 and will look to get their first divisional series win tomorrow at 1:35. It’s Charlie Morton vs. Mat Latos.
