Thursday 5/3 Minor League Roundup


AAA Indianapolis | Norfolk 3 Indianapolis 2
The Indians came out on the losing side of a 13 inning pitchers duel today. Rudy Owens was able to pitch through eight innings, only allowing two runs on six hits. Owens struck out seven on the night and walked one. DAnny Moskos got the credit for the loss in the bottom of the 13th, giving up the walk off hit. At the plate, Jake Fox had a nice two hit night, both for doubles, and an RBI. Jordy Mercer also collected two hits. Starling Marte went one for six.

AA Altoona | Erie 1 Altoona 0
After having a huge offensive game yesterday, Altoona wasn't able to muster up enough run support to win a game in which the pitching only allowed one run. Robbie Grossman had another hitless night with two strikeouts. Brock Holt went two for four with a double. On the mound, Kris Johnson had a nice start, throwing five shutout innings on three hits. Johnson didn't walk any and struck out four. Victor Black got credited for the only run in the game in the bottom of the eighth inning.

A West Virginia | West Virginia 8 Asheville 5
Alen Hanson had a one for five night with two RBIs and a double for the power as they won their tenth game of the season. Carlos Mesa had a nice night, getting three hits, one for a double, and an RBI. Willy Garcia hit a two run homer in part of his two for four night. On the mound, Nick Kingham worked through five innings, allowing four runs on five hits. Rinku Singh followed up with two no-hit innings of his own.

A Bradenton | Charlotte 3 Bradenton 2
The Marauders dropped a long one today in 16 innings. Despite collecting 13 hits as a team, they were only able to put up two runs. The two RBIs came off the bats of Stefan Welch and Carlos Paulino. Colton Cain had a great start on the mound, only allowing one run on eight hits across six innings. Casey Sadler suffered his second blown save of the season though, despite the run being unearned. Zach Foster was credited with the loss after giving up the go ahead run in the top of the 16th.
