6/6 Recap | Reds 5 Pirates 4

Johnny Cueto dominated the Pirates offense and Brad Lincoln finally gave up some runs as the Reds knocked off the Pirates to even the series at one.

Lincoln had a rough go of it allowing five runs in four innings. He did strike out five. The bullpen did a great job throwing four scoreless innings, three of which came from Doug Slaten. Jared Hughes got the other one.

The offense finally came through in the eighth as Rod Barajas doubled, Pedro Alvarez singled, Neil Walker singled, and Andrew McCutchen homered to make it a one run game, but they couldn’t scratch another one out in the eighth and then they were blown away by Aroldis Chapman in the ninth.

This game was fully dominated by the Reds, but you’ll have that when the pitching matchup is so favorable for the opposing team. The Pirates will try to win the rubber match on Thursday as they send Kevin Correia to the hill.
